Born in the 1950s, Richard Boutry developed a passion for journalism at a very early age. After studying at Franklin College and then training at the Centre de Formation des Journalistes (CFJ) in Paris (1990–1991), he joined France Télévisions in the mid-1990s.

From 1995 to 2002, he was one of the anchors of the “Soir 3” newscast on France 3—the third-most-watched newscast in France—and later contributed to programs on TV5 Monde, an international French-language channel broadcast in about 100 countries. These years cemented his reputation as a serious journalist, known for his calm demeanor and recognized ability to educate viewers.

In the early 2000s, he turned his attention to Catholic-themed television, becoming executive director of KTO, where he hosted the program *KTO Magazine*, among others. A devout and practicing Catholic, he made several pilgrimages to Medjugorje with his family. At the same time, he launched Omega TV (around 2009–2019), one of the first French web-TV channels dedicated to wellness and better living.

In 2019, he created *La Minute de Ricardo* on YouTube, a short-form opinion segment filmed in just a few minutes, which quickly found an audience among those seeking an alternative take on current events. He briefly collaborated with France Soir (late 2020–April 2021) before leaving due to editorial disagreements. In 2021, he launched La Une TV, his own independent web-based television channel. Since then, he has been living in a motorhome as he travels across France, championing this nomadic lifestyle as a symbol of independence.

In 2023, he published *Le Journaliste à abattre: de présentateur TV à paria* (The Journalist to Be Taken Down: From TV Anchor to Outcast), a book in which he reflects on his career, his break with the mainstream media, and his vision of independent journalism.
