Background & Commitments
Education
Faced with her children’s academic struggles, Sylvie Castro became passionate about the work of Maria Montessori and Antoine de la Garanderie. As a self-taught educator, she developed numerous teaching tools adopted by several schools in the Centre region and later in Paris, and founded a small school for children facing significant challenges. She then worked for three years at the alternative school founded by her daughter in Eure-et-Loir.
Integrative Health
Personal health challenges led her to discover chiropractic and osteopathy. For three years, she assisted a chiropractor and deepened her knowledge: working on the unconscious mind with a doctor of psychology, training in the “Cuirasses Liberation” method (two years), the Serge Wifart method (breathing, voice, stretching), and the Nadeau Technique.
Child Sexual Abuse

During active listening sessions with people in distress, she discovered the extent of the sexual abuse they had suffered since childhood. She collected testimonies—including the deeply moving account of a grandfather who had been a victim of an abuse ring since the age of 7—and decided to write to break the silence and help the victims.
Abusive Foster Placements
Through her research, she uncovered serious flaws in the child protection system: abused children placed in foster care, protective parents persecuted and forcibly separated from their children, and 18-year-olds abandoned without support. Shocked by these systemic injustices, she became publicly involved and founded an organization.

“Child Roundups in 2015”

A hard-hitting book on the abuses of the Child Welfare System: children torn from protective parents, families torn apart by unjust court decisions, 18-year-old young adults abandoned overnight. A well-documented cry of alarm about what Sylvie Castro calls organized institutional violence.
