✦ Who is Isabelle Landry?

Isabelle Landry is 49 years old. She is the mother of five children and already a grandmother of six. A social work technician and special education teacher trained in child development and early intervention at the University of Montreal, her life was marked by adversity from a very early age: she became a mother at 15 and was raising four children by the time she turned 22.

Before becoming a child welfare professional, Isabelle Landry was once a client of the system herself: placed in foster care during her own childhood, she experienced firsthand the realities—and, in her view, the shortcomings—of Quebec’s child protection system. At age 25, she became a caseworker at the Direction de la protection de la jeunesse (DPJ), where she worked for nearly 17 years with the most vulnerable youth and families.

This dual experience—as both a child in care and a caseworker—has led her to speak out publicly today. As a socially conscious author, speaker, and content creator, she uses writing and social media to raise public awareness about issues related to trauma, attachment, child protection, and the systemic challenges of the system. Her stated goal: to encourage constructive dialogue and contribute ideas for better supporting both children and families.
