In Memoriam
Portrait

Dr. Olivier Soulier was an extraordinary doctor — a man who traversed his entire career like one crosses a continent: by taking every side path, learning at every crossroad, and never giving up on the fundamental question that guided his first steps: "What is the purpose of disease?". This first conference, given in 1988 when he was 32, was not a trial run but an entire life's program.

Graduated from the Lille Faculty of Medicine in 1985, also holding degrees in homeopathy, medical gynecology, Chinese medicine, and acupuncture, Olivier Soulier built an approach over thirty-five years of practice that he called "Medicine of Meaning" — a symbolic and embryological reading of the human body, crossing medical rigor, psychology, and spirituality. He was the pioneer of this movement in France, an internationally recognized speaker as far as Quebec and Belgium, author of two books translated into several languages, and director of a dozen documentary films.

When the COVID crisis erupted, Olivier Soulier chose without hesitation the side of medical resistance. He was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Independent Scientific Council (CSI), Réinfoliberté, the Reinfocovid caregivers' group, and the Health Freedom Union (SLS), set up to support suspended healthcare workers. In January 2022, after 40 years of medicine, he ceased practicing rather than submit to the vaccine mandate. A few weeks before his death, he had just received the Humanity Award 2023 from the World Academy of Biomedical Sciences and Technologies from the hands of Professor Joseph Tritto.

He passed away in the night of June 28 to 29, 2023, in Paris. The Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation for involuntary homicide and illegal practice of medicine. His family and friends highlighted the brutal and unexplained nature of this death — and the total absence, in this man "full of vitality, energy, and projects," of any desire to end it all.

"He was a beacon in the night through those dark years. His untimely departure calls us to appreciate others at their true worth regardless of life's hazards."

— Tribute from the Independent Scientific Council, June 2023
Medicine of Meaning — his intellectual work
35 years of research on the symbolic meaning of diseases

The Medicine of Meaning is an approach developed by Olivier Soulier since 1988 around a central conviction: every disease has a meaning, a message that the body addresses to the consciousness. This message, inscribed in embryology, in microbes, in hormones, in food desires, and in all daily symptoms, is decipherable if one knows how to read the right codes.

His specificity was to delve into the infinitely small — deciphering embryology like a book revealing the essence of the infinitely large. This original reading provided access to the physical and psychic foundations of the human being, to approach not only the meaning of disease but the meaning of life as a whole.

He organized several founding conferences: "Medicine of Meaning" (2015), "Overcoming Autism" (2016, with Prof. Luc Montagnier), "Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis". He also hosted a series of broadcasts on Radio Courtoisie (2018–2022) and published his Letter of Medicine of Meaning every week. His film Medicine of Meaning, Understanding to Heal (directed by Jean-Yves Bilien, 2013) remains a precious testimony of this approach.

His COVID commitment — CSI, SLS, Réinfoliberté
A doctor in resistance — 2020–2023

Olivier Soulier was not an early activist against vaccines in general — he was a homeopathic doctor who had always treated with the tools of integrative medicine and who viewed the COVID pandemic through the eyes of a 40-year clinician. What he saw in the crisis management — the suppression of alternative therapeutics, the injunction to inject, the disorganization of the healthcare system, the censorship of dissenting doctors — confirmed what he had thought since his debut: Big Pharma doesn't want to heal. Big Pharma wants to sell.

He helped found or run four major structures of the French-speaking medical resistance: the Independent Scientific Council (CSI) — whose weekly broadcasts gathered doctors, scientists, and lawyers —; Réinfoliberté and the Reinfocovid caregivers' group — a network of dissenting doctors and caregivers —; and the Health Freedom Union (SLS), created to help healthcare workers suspended for refusing the injection. He himself had ceased practicing in January 2022 rather than submit to this obligation.

"For many listeners, he remained a figure of dignified and strong attachment, like a helping shoulder or a beacon in the night through those dark years." — CSI Tribute, July 2023.

An international community in mourning

Upon the announcement of his death, tributes converged from the entire alternative and resistant medical community: Michel Jean-Dominique, Virginie de Araujo-Recchia, Ariane Bilheran, Myriam Palomba, Christine Cotton, Alexandra Henrion-Caude, Francis Lalanne, Pierre Chaillot... — all those who had fought alongside him in this resistance. The Independent Scientific Council dedicated its July 6, 2023 broadcast to him (CSI #111).

"It is with deep emotion that I learned of the passing to Heaven of my resistance accomplice and friend Olivier Soulier. A man of goodwill, sincere, honest, and generous, who gave everything — paying with his person — for a humanist and enlightened medicine." — Michel Jean-Dominique.
