Christophe Chalençon, a blacksmith from Sault and a key figure of the Yellow Vests in the Vaucluse region, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 58 following a battle with cancer, reports France Bleu Vaucluse. Known for his active participation in the movement's protests in Avignon and beyond, he leaves behind a legacy defined by dissent and his outspoken stances.

A prominent public figure, Chalençon—who had gained national notoriety—was not only a key player in the 2018 and 2019 protests but also a voice in political debates. In 2019, he ran in the European elections with the "Évolution citoyenne" (Citizen Evolution) list, though he did not achieve significant electoral success.

He remains a symbol and spokesperson for citizen protest.
